The World’s End

The 14th century pub is the oldest in Dorset. According to records, it was the first pub in the county to hold a beer licence and has an interesting and varied history, including being used as a haunt for smugglers and weary travellers alike.

Having burnt down in 1991, it was sympathetically rebuilt, retaining its rustic country charm and cosy atmosphere. It is still a popular stop for many guests from all over the world.

Located near Almer, on the A31, it sits amidst Dorset’s stunning countryside and is owned by the Drax family. The pub is easy to find, sitting just off the A31 and at the end, or beginning - depending which direction you come from - of the estate boundary wall, which is marked at the halfway point by the popular landmark, Stag Gate, on top of which stands the rumoured 5-legged stag.

Relax with a drink on our patio, or enjoy a delicious freshly prepared Sunday roast in our restaurant and a real ale or local sparkling wine in our traditional country bar.

The World’s End now holds a wedding licence, allowing couples to celebrate their special day in the beautifully manicured gardens and charming open sided barn. Offering different hire options throughout the year, the World’s End is the perfect place to host any event or just a delightful evening meal with friends or family.
